We've got your back
We are all used to the accelerated pace of change the twenty-first century has codified. But when it comes to the speed with which the Coronavirus has impacted our lives, I think we are all somewhat stunned. As I wrote last week’s message, there were no confirmed cases in Minnesota. Today, we have cases in multiple counties across the state. Numerous community events have been postponed or canceled and the lines at Costco are out the door.
Last night, the Minnesota Rabbinical Association published a beautiful letter, which detailed how our community can rally together while respecting the notion of social distancing. We are very lucky to have compassionate and wise clergy in our community providing much-needed spiritual leadership at this time.
We at Federation are keenly aware that unfortunately, things are likely to get worse before they get better. And we recognize that there will be financial ramifications from this pandemic that will affect not only our institutional partners but also individual families in the Jewish community.
Our message today is simple—to Jewish institutions and individuals—we’ve got your back. We are prepared to help in any way we can, both financially and through other resources at our disposal to ensure our thriving community does not suffer setbacks from this temporary health crisis. We are already preparing mechanisms to provide relief and assistance as needed.
We have heard harrowing and inspiring stories about Federations aiding their communities after natural disasters over the past several years. Our current dilemma is no different and we promise you, we will rise to whatever challenge this brings us.
Shabbat Shalom,
Jim
