Our top art picks from the November Rimon e-guide
Rimon: The Minnesota Jewish Arts Council is back with another e-guide full of the best Jewish and Jewish adjacent art picks in the Twin Cities—and November is STACKED with great picks. Let’s dive in: here’s what caught our eye. (And sign up for the e-guide right here!)
Thursday, November 4, 7:30 p.m. Join Twin Cities PBS and the Minneapolis Institute of Art for Be My Guest. Spend an evening with Madalina Kelner and other artists as they discuss the importance of expressing their faith through art. The artists will reflect on how religious artworks and stories have influenced our community, culture and history.
Through November 7. King of the Kosher Grocers is a warm-hearted comedy set in 1991 on the Northside of Minneapolis. Siver’s Market has been a Jewish deli and neighborhood institution for fifty years. When city inspectors threaten to close the place down, old friends (a Jew, a Mexican, and an African-American) are bound and determined to keep it open. You can see the show at the newly renovated Capri Theater
Sunday, November 7, 2 p.m. Rimon's first Artist Salon of the season--At Play: Art, Technology + Imagination--debuts at Leonardo’s Basement. Join kinetic artist Robin Schwartzman, musician/producer Tom Lieberman, and AnnMarie Thomas, director of the Playful Learning Lab, for an intriguing look at the interface of art and technology and the legacy of Rube Goldberg. RSVP, masks, and proof of vaccination are required.
Wednesday, November 10, 12 p.m. In tandem with its exhibition Envisioning Evil: The Nazi Drawings by Mauricio Lasansky, the Minneapolis Institute of Art hosts a virtual event featuring Yehudit Shendar, chief curator of the United Kingdom Holocaust Memorial and former deputy director at Yad Vashem, who will speak about Holocaust memorials and museums and their role in the 21st century.
Thursday, November 30. Fiddler on the Roof opens at the Ordway. Tickets are going fast, and the run is short-- through December 12.
